Held at the Maritime Higher Education Institute, the objectives of the Indonesian national training focused on the legal implementation of the AFS and BWM Conventions.
The participants, selected by the Indonesian Government, are either directly involved in the drafting process of national legislation related to the above conventions or are involved during the public participation process. Consequently, the knowledge gained by the participants during this national training is applied through their comments and inputs on the respective pieces of draft legislation.
The Train-Implement Course facilitated the awareness of the need of technical discussions and a regulatory framework around the selected conventions. The drafting exercise provided the basis for an overall assessment of Indonesia’s current legislation and highlighted outdated legislation in need of amendment, as well as other useful and relevant national legislation.
